Fantastic food. Shrimp on my shrimp po boy were cooked to perfection. The staff was friendly. But don't expect an in and out quick experience be patient and learn to wait people the food is worth it

7/11/2018 - Been here several times since the last review and it's always good! Still struggle with all the mayonnaise, but I don't dare change the recipe. It's still a hassle everytime I go... but always worth it! Upping the rating to a 5!12/14/2017 Man... this is the po-boy place on the northshore. The roast beef is kicking, but I always get the Ferdie. It's a roast beef with grilled ham and Swiss cheese on it. Many people complain that there is too much mayonnaise on it, and I agree. I'm just too scared to say "light mayo" for fear of losing the magic. There's always a wait, not enough seating, they're open odd hours, and they don't take credit cards, maybe they do... but there's a fee or something. So the bottom line is... the locals know how it works and call their orders in, they bring cash, and take it back to work to eat it... lol.Previously in 2011, very good po-boys...but very busy at lunchtime and very limited seating and parking.

Great owners with a friendly smile and great service! The roast beef poboy is most definitely one of the best around but I LOVE the BBQ roast beef! 🤤🤤🤤 Only draw back for me is the location gets extremely backed up due to being located in old Covington BUT it has never stopped me from these delicious poboy! The food is great and you will never get a old poboy that has been sitting there, everything made to order! I recommend it GO GO GO!

Their food is Beyond good! I could eat the French bread by itself it’s so well prepared. Roast beef and cheeseburger are the two that you have to try here. That picture says it all...cause it’s all gone!

This quaint restaurant is a family owned and run establishment. No need for a fancy restaurant, their food speaks for themselves. I tried a Ferdi for the first time and now it's my new Poboy staple. Its homemade baked ham l, roast beef and drippings with gravy. It was perfect for lunch. Most people order and go, as seating is limited. Also get there when they open they have a tendency to get packed quick!! Enjoy!!

The best po boys anywhere! And the line that is constantly out the door proves it.Arrive right when they open or expect to wait in line, but it is definitely worth the wait. They do accept call ins.Cash only unless you spend over 20 dollars. They do have an ATM that you can pull cash out of for a fee.

Bear's Restaurant is the best poboy's ever. I have tried other places and no one even comes close. The quality is very good the staff is so friendly they make sure you have a wonderful experience the first time and every time you visit. Prices are a bargain for the quality of the food try the Ferdie it's off the charts.

This is a review for a pre-COVID19 Bears although the take-away is just as good. Inadequate seating, no atmosphere, considerable but inadequate parking. Don't be surprised if you have to park down the street. Often long lines (call ahead if you can). Only open from 10am-2pm 5 days a week. Is it worth it. Oh Yes, yes, yes! I've never had anything yet but their roast beef Po-Boy. In my 63 years I have always loved good roast beef Po-Boys and it doesn't get any better than Bears! New Orleans style French bread stuffed with delicious, very thinly sliced, succulent roast beef with no nasty unchewable globs that ruin some lower quality roast beef sandwiches. A half sandwich is plenty enough for most people but you will wish you had the other half when the first half's gone. Unfortunately, I don't live close enough to become sated enough with the roast beef Po-Boys to venture to try one of their other varieties. Maybe someday. I would give them 7 or 8 stars if possible.

Oh my goodness my son and I ordered a roast beef po-boy and an order of fries with a drink the roast beef po-boy was so healthy until when they cut it in half I promise you another adult could have eaten my other half I couldn't eat the whole sandwich plus the fries and the drink I brought the other half home I had mayonnaise lettuce pitbulls on my sandwich the bread was excellent I would encourage you to stop by and try them my advice to you would be don't go around 11 and one it's impossible to get there go anytime after 1:30

Best Poboys around in Covington and the New Orleans area. So if you want the Bears Poboy then come around lunch but expect a wait on Fridays during Lent the whole parking and side street is taken up. It worth it for the shrimp poboy.

Mugshots is amazing ! Great service, nice waitresses / waiters, overall great experience. It was the wait that was the only bad part.

As always the food was fantastic. Cant go wrong here, while the roast beef is my favorite, the shrimp, the catfish, the bbq beef all excellent as well as the french fry poboy. We went in to eat and the ladies are all so nice its like stopping by grandmas or maybe your aunts house for lunch. Of course all the guys in the back are super friendly when you do get a chance to say hi

Great po' boys!! Had the roast beef, dressed.Just the right amount of gravy. Also had the shrimp and oyster po'boy another time. I'm Always stuffed afterward, in a good way. ☆☆☆☆☆

I can’t say enough good things about Bear’s. The roast beef poboy is delicious and full of flavor. It’s not slathered in sauce like some places do just to mask their bland meat. The roast beef poboy is fresh and unforgettable.

You ever died and gone to heaven?? No?! Well you haven't tried Bears. After eating a roast beef poboy from here, I ran as fast as I could to the house where I grew up, found my mom and slapped her, because the food was so good. I'm no longer allowed at family reunions ,but I recommend this place.

Roast Beef and BBQ Roast Beef is the best, you can't go wrong with Bear's po boys. All I can say if you don't like it maybe they was having a bad day or maybe you like New Orleans style Roast Beef because Bear's is fantastic. The place is busy so be prepared to wait on your food and a table. but its worth it.

Po-boys are amazing, but I have to wait until after work as they have a tendency to make me sleepy if I eat one for lunch at work.The ferdie/fergie (sp?) is my favorite sandwich. It’s mostly roast beef with a layer of sautéed ham on top. It’s quite possibly the most enjoyable sandwich I’ve ever eaten.Everything is delicious though. You really can’t go wrong no matter what you order.

Ordered a large shrimp po-boy with dressing on the side, it was delicious and full of shrimp. It was a little expensive though, $17, but overall , worth it.!

My uncle isn't a poboy guy. He called me the other day and told me it was the best poboy he's ever had. He took me with him this time. I can't say it's the best but it's really really good. Their bread and portions are done right. You can get a discount allegedly if you pay cash.

Heard all about how great the Po-Boys at Bear’s are... had the Roast Beef (dressed without onions). Didn’t get a chance to take picture of sandwich before eating it. Long line and wait but very worth it!

Somebody stated that Bears wasn’t the best roast beef. I say they are crazy. Please tell me where the “ best one” is. Have eaten roast beefs from many different restaurants. Nobody came close to Bears.

Best bbq beef on bun out there! Shrimp on bun overflows with delicious shrimp! Our favorite!

Loves bears. They only make sandwiches and po-boys but the very best. I mainly love the rost beef po boy dressed , but the shrimp on bun is really good with over flowing shrimp you could get full on them alone. Love the bear
